Why are Engagement Sessions Important?
Congratulations!! Your engaged! Now you are searching for the photographer of your dreams to document this amazing season in your life! We love getting to know our couples better through an engagement session. All of our couples receive a complimentary engagement session whenever they book with us. That’s how much we love this session and we always want to be the ones to document the session for you. I really wanted to get this out there for all couples so I’m listing a few reasons why engagement sessions are so important and a few benefits of having one.
YOU WILL BE SO MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Your engagement session is truly the BEST opportunity for us to really get to know each other before the big day. This holds true especially for a groom. We want to make this such a special time in your life, to get to know you as a couple, how you interact with each other and what works for you during this time together. We adore telling your love story and it starts with an engagement session.
YOU WILL BE SO MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA
We also want to make sure you are comfortable in front of the camera BEFORE the big day arrives. Not everyone just jumps in and is ready to rock their session. It can sometimes take 15 minutes to get used to us, hearing our prompts and really – in a nutshell – getting to know each other better. Having your photos taken can make some people cringe. Others pass with flying colors the minute we get on location. We want to avoid any of this cringing on the wedding day. After your engagement session with us, you will be so comfortable and wedding portrait ready when the big day is here. I have gotten so many messages and texts AFTER the session by brides telling me the groom actually had so much fun or that wasn’t at all what he thought it would be. And it always shows on the wedding day when I go to prompt our couples and they are fired up ready to rock their portraits or even posing themselves!

All photographers are different in the way they style, prompt natural poses and shoot an engagement session. We want to get you in front of our cameras so you can get a feel for how we do things. This is an amazing way to get to know us and how we interact with you as well. You’ll be so ready for your wedding day and ready to be your true self in front of us.
GET OUT OF WEDDING PLANNING AND HAVE FUN
Your engagement session is a great way to get out from behind that notebook or spiral and have lots of fun with your fiance. You get to dress up, have an amazing session and ultimately have your love story told by the photographer that will also tell your wedding story. This can also be a really special time to start feeling like things are coming together! You’ve been planning, booking, meeting with vendors and it can get stressful. This session will ultimately be the highlight of pre-wedding fun. You’ll get this amazing gallery in your inbox and all the feels to make your hearts happy. You get to take time to create save the dates, a wedding guest book and post the fun romantic images to announce that it’s official! You. Are. Engaged!!
MAKE IT A DATE NIGHT!
You are all dressed up and nowhere to go? No!! Most of our couples are so excited after their engagement sessions with us that they get to go spend some quality time together. We are all about quality time. Especially when you are in the midst of finishing up with college, purchasing your first home together, wedding planning and more. This is a great way to get out and just laugh together over dinner.
USE YOUR HAIR AND MAKEUP TRIAL
A lot of our couples use their engagement session for their hair and makeup trial. This is a great way to get to know your stylists too. We’ve had many brides get their trial makeup done and walk out like no no no this is too much makeup. Then they see their engagement session images and are stunned with how amazing the makeup actually looks on camera/film. Sometimes, this also allows them to make small adjustments with their makeup artist for their actual day. This trial run is an amazing way to use that time + money spent.
Ultimately, I want to build a relationship with you as your wedding photographer. I want to get to know your groom and make him laugh! I want all of our couples to love their experience and have an amazing time during their session with us. Your relationship is SO important to me and so is the one we build over this next year or so.
